Texas and Florida narrowly survive last weekend, but the road ahead appears to be much easier for UT with really only Oklahoma State and the Big XII title game in between them and the National Championship. Texas Tech rolled Nebraska with relative ease last week, and once again shows that the North half of the Big XII just doesn't stack up to the South. In the SEC, Auburn falls to Kentucky, which if this were basketball would be no big deal, but in football this just doesn't happen.
So, here's my first question: Is or was the Big XII overrated coming in to this season, the first BCS polls released and only 3 teams make the top 25, and in my opinion the third Kansas @ 25 doesn't deserve that ranking. My answer is yes, the conference was highly overrated this year, to me this has primarily been a two team conference for the past decade or so, and honestly i think the 3 loss Sooners are still better than the rest of the pack behind UT.
Question #2: If Texas were to slip up and lose a game is it really possible that we could Boise State in the title game? Some of you may ask why only Texas slip up, what about Florida and Bama, and my answer would be that with the Big XII not being as strong this year Texas will not have any advantage in strength of schedule. Okay, back to the question, I believe absolutely under no circumstance will the BCS put Boise in the title game even if they are the only unbeaten remaining. Boise is a great program that has done very well with what they have, but at the end of the day they only faced one BCS school all season, and I would have no problem with them getting a BCS birth, just not the one that really matters.

Yes,the Big 12 was overrated. It is very possible that OSU will have 2-3 more losses and will drop out of the Top 25 along with Kansas. If Iowa continues to win, they should move past Cinn and Boise. Hell will freeze over before Boise makes it to the title game. However, it might be a good thing if they did. That would be one more example of what a joke the BCS is and get us closer to a playoff system.
ReplyDeleteThe Big 12 is overated this year....and thats hard to say....but with OU slipping by losing Bradford makes it hard to tell how good OU really is...Texas scedule has been a lot easier tha OUs...maybe Mack will nut up one of these years and play some real D1 teams...but i dont see that happening... i still think Texas will slip up and lose ...this week could be the one against Missouri....wow! what a big win that was for Tech in Nebraska!...they just went up there and took care of business..this week Tech has A&M..should be any easy W...i think Potts will start this week since Sheffield(Styx)is hurt....I think we are leaving one team out of this discussion...TCU...why couldnt they be considered if we keep talking about Boise....and Don we will never see a playoff...remember money talks!
